Seniors’ Choice for Gentle Care and Long Lasting Pain Relief
Many seniors are not aware of the life altering benefits they could experience by utilizing regular chiropractic care. Concept Chiropractic and Rehab has provided long lasting pain relief to seniors for years and continues to excel in helping seniors improve the quality of their lives.
Imagine being able to bend over and pick up your grandchild with no pain, or being able to work out in the garden pain free. How would you feel to be ab;e to drive a golf ball an additional 40 yards with your driver? How would it feel to have better balance and coordination?
Many challenges with balance and coordination seniors experience have been related to a traumatic injury or degenerative changes in the neck. By experiencing the changes described above, many of our senior patients reported a dramatic increase in their health and well-being.
By reducing their pain levels, increasing their range of motion, and improving their strength, our seniors have noticed they have more energy, sleep better and have a decreased incidence of falling (which is extremely common).
Most Common Conditions Affecting Seniors
ARTHRITIS CARE & PREVENTION
Arthritis is basically the degeneration of cartilage, which is the substance that acts like a shock absorber between the ends of bones. As bones age they respond less efficiently to stress. When bones do not respond properly to stress, cartilage is damaged and arthritis develops. The joints most often affected by arthritis are weight-bearing joints, such as feet, knees, hips and spine. While approximately the same percentage of older men and women suffer from arthritis, it affects them in different parts of the body. The disease most commonly affects women in their hands, knees, ankles and feet, whereas in men, the symptoms usually appear in the hips, wrist and spine. Also, women are more likely to experience multiple joint symptoms than men are.
OSTEOPOROSIS CARE & PREVENTION
Osteoporosis is a progressive condition that causes bones to deteriorate and become brittle, making them prone to fractures. Seniors are often at high risk experiencing fractures because of their high incidence of falls, which is due to reduced balance, coordination, and strength. For this reason, seniors may experience a fracture, most commonly in the spine or hip. Hip fractures usually require seniors to be hospitalized, and fractured bones in the spinal column may cause loss of height and back pain, both potentially leading to permanent disability.
SPINAL STENOSIS DIAGNOSIS & TREATMENT
Spinal stenosis most commonly affects seniors. Symptoms may include significant back pain with intermittent leg pain and weakness while walking. The pain may become progressively severe upon weight bearing or standing and walking. This condition produces deficits of your nervous system including: weakness, pain, numbness, pins and needles and decreased temperature or loss of sensation in your arms and than in disc herniation. Concept Chiropractic has consistently helped people of all ages, most notably seniors, overcome the harsh symptoms of this condition.
